Spinelli's Pizza
About This Spot
Step into Spinelli’s Pizza and you’re instantly caught up in a lively, welcoming buzz that feels both familiar and a little adventurous. Located right in the heart of Tempe, it’s the kind of place where the energy mirrors the vibrant local college town spirit — relaxed enough to unwind with friends after a long day, but charged enough to keep the good times flowing well into the night. The pace is easy but spirited, shaped by the hum of conversation, clinking glasses, and the occasional cheer from the TVs displaying the latest game.
The space unfolds with a kind of lived-in charm, walls decked out in colorful art and a collection of worldly souvenirs that spark curiosity and conversations. It’s a comfortable backdrop for sharing giant, thin-crust pizza slices that aren’t just meals but moments — generously topped, perfectly crisp, and thoughtfully seasoned so each bite tastes like a small discovery. Whether you’re settling into one of their famous slices or exploring some of the other hearty options like salads, sandwiches, or even their signature wings, there’s an unmistakable sense of care and personality in every offering.
The vibe gently nudges you toward conversations that run late and weekends that stretch on, helped along by a well-curated lineup of drinks that keep the evening flowing without rushing it. It’s no surprise that the friendly, down-to-earth staff make guests feel more like old friends dropping in rather than just diners at a pizza spot. Whether you’re grabbing a bite before heading out or lingering into the early hours as the sports crowd drifts in, Spinelli’s invites you to take your time and savor a little slice of Tempe’s unique spirit.

Servers are real, pizza was super-thin and way tasty! Just the right amount of ingredients so you taste them all. If you are a ranch person they make their own - daily! Its well-seasoned with a fresh pop of tang so you have to eat it all!!

The slices are huge! More than enough for one person. For $10 each, they are expensive but they really are super delicious. Very thin and crispy. The rest of the food is also good but takes longer to get. The wings are okay, nothing exceptional but they are very generous with the sauce. Since this is open after the bars close, you get a lot of drunk people in there so it can get uncomfortable and crowded. A line forms are 2am and they won't let you in until people leave the restaurant. Excellent pizza but really expensive.

Such a cool pizza place! The slices are HUGE! Well worth the price. The art is fun to look at. Game on TV, jukebox, and the service person was very nice. Highly recommend!

Awesome scenery and culture behind this pizza place! Lots of souvenirs from different places. And while the pizza might be pricey the slices are huge! 1 is enough to fill you up and on top of that other great selections of food and drink including pizza fries which are a must get!

Can you eat just the pizza crust without any ranch from here? YES The employees were very friendly and courteous. A Margarita Pizza was ordered from here as it is one of the best tests to determine if a pizzeria uses both quality ingredients as well as proper execution of cooking and presentation. Ingredients: the quality was good but I would have preferred to have more basil and buffalo mozzarella. The sauce was fresh and bright but not too acidic so I did not get heartburn which means the tomatoes were ripe. Execution of cooking: The excess moisture from the buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes was removed prior to cooking which is the proper way to cook this. I suspect that the oven was still heating back up as it was slow when I arrived and the crust edges could have been cooked slightly longer however the bottom of the pizza crust was perfectly cooked with a crisp as you bite into it and was chewy. Presentation: the toppings were unevenly distributed based on the cuts. More toppings would have remedied this. Final thoughts: $40 for a large margarita pizza is a bit much, sure the ingredients are good quality but I'd say it's not worth more than about $26 MAX with a little more toppings.
